So it looks like the season’s getting off to a very good start…

December 5, 2009, 1:28 PM

While winter doesn’t technically begin until the 21st, this is possibly a good sign of things to come:

The first snowfall of the season

The first snowfall of the season has officicially arrived. No flurries here. This is the real deal, yo. The National Weather Service is calling for 3-5 inches of snow on the ground. The sad thing is that it’s probably not going to last for very long. It’s supposed to be up in the 40s most of the week next week, and so this stuff will soon melt off. But while we’ve got it, hey, I’m not complaining. It gives the area a blanket of white, which is a nice change from the usual hues of the Washington DC area. Once the snow is on the ground, the whiteness makes all the other colors stand out, and certainly is a fun visual treat.
