Twenty Years
On March 23, 2016, The Schumin Web celebrated its twentieth anniversary. When I first started the site, I was 14 years old and a freshman in high school. At that time, the site was hosted through America Online, and I used an HTML editor called NaviPress to create the pages. Now I’m 34, the site is hosted through DreamHost, and I use WordPress to maintain the site.
But running a website for two decades is not just about technical specifications. You can have the best hosting setup in the world, and the best content engine possible, but if you don’t have engaging content, you should just as soon go home. Over twenty years, I’ve produced quite a bit of content. It’s come in through the main page, and it’s also made its way in through the Journal, College Life, Life and Times, and Photography. And for the past twenty years, we’ve all shared in the memories together.
So for The Schumin Web‘s twentieth anniversary, I thought I’d revisit some of those moments that we’ve shared together with a montage of classic Schumin Web material from the last two decades. The montage is set to a song from the Today’s Special episode “Our Story Part 1” where everyone sang about their own memories (download and listen here) on the occasion of the store’s closing down. I reworked the lyrics a little bit to fit the different context, setting the stage to explore our shared memories.
And I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for another twenty years.

Then there was Evan’s movie…

And we did lots of dancing…
Singing, acting…
All those good times…
Make us happy to look back!
Why?
