“To Ben, from Santa… I wonder what it is?”

FireplaceIt is, as many people will tell you, the most wonderful time of the year. Ah, Christmas… the time when people love one another, when people do stuff together, and the time you find out whether you’re still friends with people because they did or did not send you a Christmas card this year and whether you thought they were off the list and so you didn’t send them a card but then they sent you a card, and now it’s too late to mail a card out and have it arrive before Christmas, so now you have to get a gift for them and mail it to them to have it arrive some time after Christmas as an I’m-sorry-I-didn’t-send-you-a-card gift, and… Well, you get the idea. It’s Christmas time, and I got the cutest Christmas gifts for Mom and Sis, and I got Dad something that I think he will be able to use, and thus will enjoy. No, I’m not telling you what the gifts are, because first of all, my family does read this site, no matter how far-fetched that may seem, and secondly, friends of family also read this site – friends with big mouths. I’ll tell you what I got them, but after Christmas when the secret’s over. Despite secrecy regarding gifts, though, the Christmas spirit is everywhere, with work all dressed up for Christmas, people all over the place having their houses lighted up for Christmas, from the very tasteful to the very tacky, and my reactions to the Christmas spirit while I’m taking calls at work because the spirit is becoming too joyous (i.e. loud). Yes, I’m about the only person who will actually sit down and make a little a little tiny gag out of toilet paper for a stuffed Santa that plays “Jingle Bell Rock” when you squeeze its hand, just to make a statement that I am sick of hearing the bloody thing. I put it on the Santa, too. They got the point. Still, this time of the year is just a special one, isn’t it? A time like no other…
