Here in California, they’re becoming a thing of the past due to popularity of the System Sensor SpectraAlerts (the original round ones) and the Edwards.
Something interesting for you. A while back (between 2007 – 2010 ish ), Lodi Unified School District in California did an overhaul of their fire alarm systems in all the schools. Essentially all the schools went to the Edwards EG1s for the interior of the buildings and WG4 horns for the exterior.
Recently I did some poking around on their procurement page and they’re updating the fire alarm systems again, this time to a fire alarm system with voice evacuation. I’m wondering why they’re wanting to upgrade already? – Ken H
(side note: I need to change this photo. I’m no longer into said production now that it has ended, lol )
