The East Coast Price is Right
Here, you'll find a transcript and stills of The East
Coast Price is Right. Video clips will be coming soon enough. Erin: Here it comes... based on the poem "Dover Beach"! Virginia's most exciting hour of fantastic prizes! The fabulous sixty-minute Price is Right! Jamie Lee Parker, come on down! (No one comes down) Marcus Pringle, come on down! Laurel Woodworth, come on down! And Mike Dove, come on down! As replacement, Andrew Pauly, come on down! You are the first four contestants on The Price is Right!
Erin: And now, here is the star of The East Coast Price is Right, Ben Schumin!
Erin: It's a new workstation! A desk, hutch, and two-drawer file make up this forty-eight-inch wide workstation. Has a finished front and back, the file, uprights, and shelves are plain-sliced, premium quality red oak veneer. The back panel and modesty panel are five-eighths-inch thick black stipple laminate. Easy to assemble, no special tools required. Ben: We will present that workstation to the one of you who bids closest to the actual retail price without going over. Please bid on it in dollars, because we round our retail prices to the nearest dollar. And we'll start with Laurel!
Ben: $300, Andrew, what is your bid? Andrew: $46. Ben: $46. And Marcus? Marcus: $375. Ben: $375, and Mike? Mike: $750. Ben: $750. Erin, what is the actual retail price? Erin: $1,232. Ben: Mike, you win! Come on up and play a pricing game! (Mike comes on stage) [Note: I would have read the actual retail price for this item, but I accidentally left the envelope with the price in it backstage. Oops!]
Mike: How are you doing? Ben: I'm fine. Anyway, here's what we have for you to win now! Erin: Now you have a chance to win up to $16,000 in cash! Ben: $16,000 in cash, and you'll do this by playing "It's In The Bag". What you have to do is to determine which of these items goes with which of these prices, and Erin will tell you all about them. Erin?
Mike: Bean dip. (Mike also finishes arranging the items based on what he believes their price to be. Ben: All right. For $1,000, what is in this bag? It is the juice! Now, you can go for $2,000, or you can quit right now and keep your $1,000. What is your pleasure? Mike: Go on.
Mike: I'll stop. Ben: He will stop! Mike, you have $2,000, but let's see if you could have won $4,000. Is the Easy Cheese $2.18? No, it is not! The gelatine was right, and the Oven Classics was right. But you do have $2,000. (Main theme starts) And we'll have more Price is Right after this announcement! Ben: Erin, who is our next player?
Ben: Welcome to contestants' row! Erin, what is our next item up for bids? Erin: Our second item up for bids is brand new garden
furniture! This English-style northern white cedar furniture can help
create an attractive, comfortable retreat in your garden, yard, or deck.
The cedar wood is durable, and naturally resistant to rot and insects, and
can be painted, stained, or allowed to weather Ben: And Cameron, what do you bid on that furniture? Cameron: $850. Ben: $850. Andrew, what do you bid? Andrew: $700 Ben: $700... Laurel? Laurel: $420. Ben: $420! And, Marcus? Marcus: $842. Ben: $842. The actual retail price... $843! Marcus, you win! (Marcus comes up on stage) What do we have for you to win?
Ben: Let me tell you how to play "Dice Game".
Now we'll give you the first number, and that is two. Now, there are
no zeroes in the price of the car and no numbers higher than six.
What you have to do is roll each one of these dice. If you
roll the right digit, then we will reveal the number for you. If
it's not right, then it's up to you to decide whether the correct number
is higher or lower. So, let's roll the first dice! Erin: No. [Note: We had no buzzers or bells, just music] Ben: Is that number higher or lower? Marcus: Lower. Ben: Lower it is. Marcus, roll that second dice. (Marcus rolls) He rolled two! Is that right? Erin: No! (Audience is yelling "higher!") Marcus: Higher. Ben: Higher it is. Roll it again. (Marcus rolls) He rolled two! Is that right? Erin: No! Marcus: Higher. Ben: It is higher! And roll the last dice... (Marcus rolls) He rolled a one! Is that right? Erin: No! (Audience is yelling "higher!") Marcus: Higher.
(Marcus starts jumping up and down and hugs Ben) Ben: (Music starts) And more Price is Right after this announcement! Ben: All right, Erin, who is our next contestant?
Ben: Welcome to contestants' row! What is our next item up for bids? Erin: The third item up for bids is a new entertainment armoire! Made by Powell, it holds most televisions up to thirty-one inches. There are shelves for a VCR, tapes, and much more. The doors open to lie flat against the sides. Ben: Well, Jeff, what do you bid on that armoire? Jeff: $400.
Cameron: $850. Ben: $850, and now Andrew! Andrew: $950. Ben: $950, and Laurel? Laurel: $899. Ben: $899! The actual retail price of that armoire is... $580! The winner is Jeff! Come on up! (Jeff comes on stage) And look what we have for you now!
Erin: A new "Mission Style" king size Koa Bed! The simplicity and elegance of this "Mission Style" Koa Bed set it apart from the rest. Shipped in knock-down fashion and is easily assembled. Ben: And we are going to play "Push Over".
You just take these blocks and push them off the side. When you push
them off the edge of the table, they're gone. Don't ask to get them
back, because they go straight to China. So you just push the
blocks until you believe that the actual retail price is at the end of (Audience is helping as Jeff pushes) Ben: He has decided on a price! Erin, what is the actual retail price of that bed? Erin: The actual retail price is $5,250! (Losing horns play)
Erin: Some members of our studio audience will receive Mott's 100% Juice Fruit Punch. An excellent source of vitamin C, from Mott's. Velveeta Mild Mexican pasteurized process cheese spread. Melts smooth and creamy, from Kraft. Also, Chef Boyardee Cheese Pizza Kit. Makes two twelve-inch pizzas. Add mozzarella cheese for real pizzeria taste. Nabisco Sweet Crispers crispy baked snacks. Mike: How many spins do we get? Ben: You can get that dollar in a combination of one... no... one spin, or a combination of two spins. Now, Jeff, spin that wheel! (Jeff spins the wheel. The wheel does not get all the way around, and the audience boos him.)
(Jeff spins the wheel again, much more forcefully this time.) Ben: Jeff, you have 60 cents. Do you want to spin again? Jeff: I'll spin again. (Jeff spins again) Ben: You have 25 cents, for a total of 85 cents. Mike, spin the wheel! (Mike spins the wheel)
(Mike spins again) Ben: Mike has 15 cents and to that he adds... 55 cents, and that's not enough. Mike, thank you for being on our show. Marcus, spin that wheel! (Marcus spins) Marcus: Big money, big money, big money! (Someone calls out that that's what they say on Wheel of Fortune.)
(Marcus spins again) Ben: 45 cents plus 10 cents is not enough. Marcus, thank you for being with us. Jeff, you will be in our showcase at the end of the show. And if you would like to see The Price is Right in person, Erin can tell you how to do it. Won't you Erin? Erin: If you would like to see The Price is Right in person, send your request, including the number of tickets and the date you wish to attend, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:

the creamy hot cereal with the cocoa treat. A good source of seven
vitamins and iron, from Little Crow Foods. Moving along, we

In order to increase this, you have to determine which of these items are less than our target price of $1.90. (Audience is shouting cups) Doug: The cups. Ben: He says the cups! Are those cups less than
$1.90? (Pull out price) They're not! Oh...

The chair is meticulously hand-caned, the chair of choice in the East and West Indies. The ottoman table has a unique accent that blends functional design with exotic overtones. Its beautifully detailed solid wood construction is glossed with an elegant antique walnut finish. A hand-woven cane top provides the perfect thing to top it all off. Matt: $550. Ben: $550. Cameron, what do you bid? Cameron: $825. Ben: $825. Andrew? Andrew: $741. Ben: $741, and Josh? Josh: $501. Ben: $501. The actual retail price is... $1,540!

Ben: And should this be a seven or a nine? Cameron: Seven. Ben: And, Cameron, do you believe that this one should be a two or a zero? Cameron: Zero. Ben: You have determined that the price of that car is $28,670. If you have at least one number right in the actual price of that car, the game continues. Ask them, "Ladies, do I have at least one number right?"
Ben: You do! Now ask them, "Ladies, do I have at least two numbers right?" Cameron: Do I have at least two numbers right? Ben: "LADIES, do I have at least two numbers right?" Cameron: Ladies, do I have at least two numbers right? Erin: Why, yes, you do! (Ta-da) Ben: Now ask them, "Ladies, do I have at least three numbers right?" Cameron: Ladies, do I have at least three numbers right?
Ben: Now, ask them, "Ladies, do I have at least four numbers right?" Cameron: Ladies, do I have at least four numbers right? (No response) Ben: You have two numbers wrong. Which ones do you want to change? Cameron: The second one and the fourth one. Ben: That gives you a price of $26,690. And now, the moment of truth! (Main theme music begins) Ben: And we will have our second showcase showdown after this announcement! Erin: Contestants not appearing on stage will receive Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies. Contains twelve individually wrapped packages. Now, here's Ben Schumin with our showcase showdown! Ben: Let's spin that wheel! (Doug spins the
wheel) The contestant nearest to $1.00 without going over will be in
our showcase! And Doug has 95 cents! Doug: No. Ben: All right. Just come right over here, then. Laurel, spin the wheel! (Laurel spins the wheel, and then immediately spins it again) 90 cents plus 80 cents... you're over! (It is then brought to my attention that Laurel's first spin never made it all the way around, so we bring her back up to spin again. We set the wheel back to where it landed on Doug's spin, which was 95 cents, and she spins again) Laurel has spun 95 cents!
Ben: Now we will have a spin-off between these two unless you beat them both by getting a dollar. Cameron, spin that wheel. (Cameron spins the wheel) 45 cents... spin it again. (Cameron spins again) Cameron needs 55 cents, but she doesn't have enough. Cameron, thank you for being on our show. (Laurel and Doug return to the other side of wheel)
